JOB SUMMARY:

 

Primary responsibility is to lead a group of engineers to develop and release powertrain calibrations to achieve fuel economy, drivability and emission targets. Manage competitive benchmarking activities for advanced technology development. The position will plan resources, manage projects, report issues, and ensure that consistent high quality work is delivered per internal processes. The manager also guides employee career development.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Job responsibilities include but not limited to:

  1. Responsible for planning, directing and overseeing the operations of the powertrain calibration group.
  2. Lead a group of engineers to develop and release powertrain calibrations that achieve fuel economy, drivability and emission requirements.
  3. Supervise the powertrain benchmarking activities to improve fuel economy, drivability and emissions.
  4. Align with company’s  calibration processes and methodologies, and continuously improve them to yield high quality work.
  5. Direct the in-field investigation, troubleshooting & root cause analysis of Company’s vehicle issues related to powertrain.
  6. Plan department annual goals, resources and timeline, manage work, and report status, issues, and risks to senior management team.
  7. Provide technical oversight to your engineering team, including evaluations of engineering issues and risk assessment.
  8. Provide oversight and direction to the employees in the department in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures.
  9. Coach, mentor and develop staff, including overseeing new employee onboarding and providing career development planning and opportunities.
  10. Prepare, manage and report on the annual department budget.

 

EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:

  1. Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering or equivalent from an ABET Accredited University.
  2. Minimum 5 years hands-on experience as a Gasoline Engine Calibration Engineer for emissions and drivability, or 8 years hands-on experience as a Powertrain Calibration Engineer.
  3. Minimum 2 years prior experience leading a group of Engineers to complete complex technical tasks.
  4. Experience with MATLAB / Simulink or C programming language.
  5. Database Management of Production Calibrations.
  6. Willing to travel up to 20% for development testing.
  7. Proficient in ETAS INCA and/ or ATI Vision calibration tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Master of Science in Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical or equivalent from an ABET Accredited University.
  2. OBD calibration experience in meeting OBD regulatory requirements.
  3. Powertrain specific experience (controls, CVT, electrification).

 

OTHER SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:

Must possess a valid driver's license and have the ability to travel domestically and internationally, as required.
