Job Description:

  • Support, then lead the battery management system design.
  • Develop battery designs for stand-alone applications and in hybridized power systems.
  • Perform engineering development tasks for new products and upgrades and improvements to existing products.
  • Perform analysis tasks with the goal to develop manufacturable products for delivery or testing.
  • Lead fabrication process development to optimize product cost and quality.
  • Develop tools to select the right cell and size a system for various applications.
  • Assume a leadership role on technical projects while working in a team environment.
  • Work with the Product Line Director to assess market opportunities and reach out to potential customers to assess their needs and present solutions.
  • Initial focus will be on Li-Ion secondary batteries, but other high energy density primary battery technologies will be part of the work scope.
  • Write product specifications, technical reports and prepare presentations for internal and external customers.
  • Attend conferences and technical meetings.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or similar discipline and 5 plus years relevant experience (higher level education may substitute for some experience)
  • Experience with Li-Ion batteries
  • Experience with battery system design including battery management systems
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
  • High energy and self-motivated with good problem solving skills
  • Permanent Residency or US Citizenship required.

Desired (considered but not required):

  • Skills and experience with materials compatibility, packaging, tooling design, welding, process engineering, testing and data analysis is desired
  • Business development experience
  • Experience with battery testing and UN certification
  • Experience with failure modes and effect analysis
  • Experience with high power, large format Li-Ion cells and battery configurations
