This FAE role will provide support for our customers as they evaluate and develop systems using our automotive Ethernet products. This FAE will be absolutely vital for supporting Automotive Tier-1 customers as well as OEM customers such as GM, Chrysler, Ford. This role is dedicated to supporting the automotive Ethernet PHY & Switch products.

Job Description:

The Field Application Engineer is responsible for developing strong relationships with the customers. It is the Field Application Engineer's responsibility to own, solve or drive all customer technical issues to resolution. They are also responsible for program managing their customer projects and ensuring alignment with the company's internal developments.

Field Application Engineers are also responsible for helping customers with a wide range of support material, including Application Notes, Design Guides, Reference Design Packs, Development and Evaluation Kits as needed.

This role requires detailed technical knowledge of Automotive Ethernet product groups, with strong background in Ethernet PHY's / Switches.

Must have high technical competence, excellent communication and presentation skills, good problem solving attitude, and be able to adapt to a very dynamic work environment and changing customer requirements.


This role includes activities such as:

  • Respond to technical customer questions, schematic & layout reviews
  • Reproduction and verification of customer issues
  • On-site support to debug and investigate technical issues
  • Preparation of technical documentation (application notes, white papers, FAQ's, presentations, training material)
  • Help develop detailed product specifications and datasheets
  • Travelling will be required


  • BS or equivalent in Electrical Engineering, MS desired
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in board design and PCB layout

Required skills:

  • Hands-on experience of EMC design theory, EMC product testing and debug
  • Hands-on experience of high speed board design, schematic, layout
  • Hands-on experience with Ethernet PHY's and physical layer implementations
  • Excellent communication skills and able to present in front of customers
  • Superior problem solving and debug capabilities

Desired skills:

  • AVB/TSN/PTP/1588 experience beneficial
  • Knowledge of Ethernet switches and an understanding of 802.1 switching protocols
  • Experience with the automotive market and customers is preferred
