Job Title: Senior Sales Manager, Grid-Scale Energy Storage Solutions

The CLIENT has identified Energy Storage Solutions (ESS) as one of the company’s top ten future growth opportunities – and so this represents an opportunity to join a highly successful, global company at an early stage in its anticipated growth.

Job Summary:

The Senior Sales Manager will be responsible for sales of large grid-scale battery energy storage systems to customers and system integrator partners throughout North America. To be successful, this will require: a full understanding of large energy storage systems; knowledge of existing and evolving legislation to identify most compelling markets for commercial ESS deployment; and a commit to establishing new and developing existing customer accounts especially with electric utilities and independent project developers.

The individual must be able to identify customer’s needs, generate solutions and direct all phases of proposal preparation, sales negotiation and project implementation. This requires the individual to have a balanced blend of technical and commercial capabilities and experience, be capable of establishing and nurturing effective relationships with customers’ influencers and decision makers, while working in a fast-paced, team-oriented, international business. Primary Job Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be comfortable working within the North American regional organization with specialized technical and commercial support from CLIENT ’s Overseas-based associates. Primary responsibilities of the Senior Sales Manager include:

  • An understanding of grid-scale energy storage systems, their major components, interfaces, and typical applications
  • Develop an understanding of competing energy storage technologies, and use this knowledge to inform customers of competitive advantages and value propositions.
  • Market analysis, including legislative background, major customers, and competitor activities. Results will contribute to regional marketing and sales strategy development.
  • In conjunction with Director of Sales, develop regional sales plans including customer targets, order intake and sales revenue forecasts.
  • Creation and development of highly effective relationships with customers and project partners.
  • Arrange customer meetings as required to execute the sales plan.
  • Create and present technical and commercial business proposals to successfully meet client’s needs, working closely with CLIENT ’s overseas associates.
  • Lead the preparation and submission of proposals to customers in the region.
  • Facilitate all aspects of technical support to our clients during pre- and post-contract award discussions and subsequent field deployments.

REQUIREMENTS

  • A Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent, in a technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years work experience in a technical sales role
  • Some experience in utility sales (large grid)
  • Experience in sales of energy storage systems or related capital equipment and/or services to electric utilities or project developers would be highly desirable.
  • Proven record of sales success and achieving revenue growth, preferably in the energy industry.

  • Comfortable working beyond normal office hours as required to meet customer expectations; an ability to travel extensively throughout the assigned territory (approx. 50%).

  • A strong team player who thrives in a role that requires significant personal contributions, and depends on the successful collaboration between North America and overseas team members.
  • An ability to identify and implement short-term tactics to secure immediate business opportunities while developing and executing a successful long-term strategic business plan.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with a minimum of supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills; verbal, written, and presentation.
