ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Research, investigate and evaluate competitor vehicles, including basic design, performance, and systems. Report results to corporate, other related departments and organizations.
  2. Plan, prepare, perform and report comprehensive static and dynamic vehicle evaluations. Vehicles, systems and components will be evaluated both objectively as well as subjectively. Testing will include all aspects of customer-perceived vehicle performance characteristics.
    1. Evaluation of the complete vehicle:
    • Ride and handling characteristics
    • Noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) characteristics
    • Performance of various power train characteristics
    • Comfort and convenience features
    • Fit and finish items
    1. Evaluation of various vehicle systems and components:
    • Power train performance characteristics
    • HVAC/climate control features and characteristics
    • Audio feature and characteristics
    • Brake system performance and characteristics
    • Steering system performance and characteristics
    • Other system features and characteristics as required.
  1. Investigate concerns on production vehicles as well as prototype vehicles.
  2. Initiate and complete independent research projects involving advanced technology and trends in the market.
  3. Support other testing groups' testing activities.
  4. Responsible for test/measurement equipment (FFT, ACC, pick-up, MIC, etc.)
  5. Support IQS improvement activities.
  6. Support corporate job request.
  7. Work toward maintaining high quality standards and continuous improvement of the position and the organizations.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Attend conferences and seminars.
  • Participate in company business trips and test trips.
  • Represent the company for vendor/supplier business issues.
  • Perform other duties which may be assigned or required.

 

EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Four-year degree in Electrical (Preferred) or Mechanical engineering or equivalent.
  • 5+ years OEM level experience.
  • 2+ experience in vehicle evaluation and subjective ratings.
  • Broad understanding of three or more testing areas. Complete competency in one testing area.
  • Independent project accountability.

OTHER SPECIFIC JOB REQUIREMENTS:

  • Should possess excellent driving skills.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret test results.
  • Ability to conduct CSIIQS evaluation.
  • Willingness and ability to meet deadlines for testing.
  • Must have the necessary skills and knowledge to solve vehicle problems.
  • Ability to take initiative and handle minor problems with the technicians.
  • Maintain company work standards and work towards improving job quality.
  • Must be able maintain complete confidentiality in all areas, specifically with regards to data, prototype vehicles, test procedures and various components.
  • Must possess good written, computer, and verbal skills, communicating in a clear and concise manner.
  • Must possess a valid Michigan driver's license with a good driving record, and able to obtain CPG facility driver's license.
